The Doerr Institute Leadership Foundation Badge aims to recognize undergraduate and graduate students’ completion of meaningful development in leadership competencies and skills.
What required to earn a Leadership Foundations Digital Badge?
A student must complete 20 hours of competency based Catalyst modules, 5 hours of coaching and complete all accompanying surveys.
What’s the benefit of earning a Leadership Foundation Digital Badge?
The DINL Leadership Foundations badge is digital designation that students are able to post on social media platforms. Digital badges contain specific information and descriptions that future employers and peers can use to verify the accomplishment.

Doerr Institute Graduate Fellow
What is a DINL Fellow?
A Doerr Institute Graduate Fellow is a Rice University graduate or post-doctoral student who has completed substantial leadership development and demonstrated growth in leadership competencies and skills as a result of Doerr Institute Programming.
What required to become a Doerr Institute Fellow?
Upon receipt of the DINL Leadership Foundations Badge, graduate students will be invited to apply to become a Fellow for the following academic year.
The application process includes a written reflection and a presentation to Doerr staff members where they will be asked to provide evidence of how they have grown in their leader identity during their time at Rice University.
What is the benefit of becoming a Doerr Institute Fellow?
Doerr Institute Fellows serve for one academic year and are given additional responsibilities and benefits. Responsibilities and benefits include but are not limited to:
Representative at graduate student orientations and events
Representative at events and conferences
Accompany Doer staff at exclusive networking events
Support DINL leader developmental sessions in various capacities based on professional expertise
Access to additional coaching and Doerr programming

What is a DINL Undergraduate Student Affiliate?
Doerr undegraduate student affiliates act as a direct line of communication for the residential colleges and the student body across campus. Students serving in this position have vast exposure to the Doerr Institute programs as well as a number of other opportunities.
What are the responsibilites of a DINL Student Affiliate?
Doerr student affiliates are a resource to all students at the college for information and guidance on Doerr Institute issues and programs.
Student affiliates speak on behalf of the Doerr Institute.
Student affiliates coordinate and manage the involvement of students from the residential colleges.
Meeting monthly with Doerr Institute team members to provide input.
What are the benefits of becomming a Doerr Student Affiliate?
Exclusive invitations to various high-profile speakers and leaders in the form of luncheons and coffee.
Personal and professional development in the form of various trainings and other programs.
Eligibility for a second round of professional leadership coaching.
